Re: Quick update
Well guys, good news and bad news. The bad news is I have a tumor growing next to my spine and possibly into it. The good news is it hasn't spread anywhere and the doc said it's very rare for isolated spinal tumors to metastasize. Given my age and overall health the neurosurgery team here at Texas T...

Re: Quick update
Back injury is awful. Hoping you get back to normal soon. Yes, I had never realized how bad they are until it happened to me. I've had all kinds of injuries before including fractured bones and really bad pneumonia and none of those have as debilitating as this has been =-( Thanks everyone for your...

Re: 2018 Customs and WIP stuff
What do you think about 8670? I made a Gyuto with some and it seems to do well, it doesn't stay razor sharp super long but it will really take a rediculously keen edge with all that toughness. I'm a fan of the nickel carbon steels in general for that reason.

Re: Field knives
I use my Lansky kit on a regular basis to keep my knives sharp, but Id like to have a field sharpener to keep in my truck EDC pouch or something for touch ups. What on the go sharpener would you recommend? It depends...we always just use a little Arkansas stone when we go hunting and fishing, I lik...

Re: Bunkas Thread
Due to the geometry of the blade the rough finish on top got kind of messed up during grinding because it is thinner than the other two. It's kind of hard to explain in words but if you think of a triangle closing in on itself with the abrasives at the bottom of the triangle sticking up they start r...

Re: Finished work
Lookin good bruthu! What kind of wood is that handle and how did you finish it? For a makers mark I have a cheap and easy solution until you can get an etching kit or a custom stamp. I use these stamps, there's a ton of different designs to pick from and a few different fonts of letters so you can g...

Re: Bunkas Thread
Sure is! I still have 2 more to make after yours is done lol. One is going to be a style I like to call the "ABS" style with thick spine, pronounced taper, and full flat grind with a hamon out of some W2, going to be a Gyuto/Bunka 2pc set. I'm super excited to start on that project. How do...

Bunkas Thread
Bunkas have been very popular, figured I would just make a thread dedicated to them and drop them off here as they're completed. Most of the knives I make are made to order, but if you're interested just shoot me a PM :D . https://i.imgur.com/WKiU6Me.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qPSdf9N.jpg https://i.img...

Re: Kurosaki Megumi vg10 240
Knife is on it's way to Jbart as of the 27th. I apologize for the extra couple of days I had it ready to go friday and realized that I didn't have the address, so it had to wait over the weekend. It's probably for the best, it gave me some time to come up with a better packing scheme, with the box i...

Re: Kurosaki Megumi vg10 240
The knife arrived to me safe and sound, although I may have to find another box for it, this one is getting pretty beat up. I'll let you guys know what my thoughts are in a few days when I have time to do some measurements and put it through some veg.
