Re: 25% 0ff Thermapen MK4

Well my Dad loves his. I didn't get one for Christmas so I just broke down and ordered one during the 20% off Mk4 Blue special. Blue is the color I would have chosen anyway so I broke my self imposed January buying moratorium, but rationalized it away as a good deal. :)

I want this "farmhouse" carbon skillet so bad I can't stand it. I especially love the handle. https://smithey.com/collections/carbon-steel/products/carbon-steel-farmhouse-skillet I'm really struggling to understand the value here. I'm all for paying a premium for a premium product that pr...

Bought an orange one for the old man during the 25% off sale. Fingers crossed I get one from the kids...or I might be forced to steal it back from Pops.

Re: Typographical errors on the site.

https://www.chefknivestogo.com/dofo52su24.html All three Doberman Forge listings on the New Arrivals page have similar grammatical errors. This 240mm sujihiki is nice and call and drops through food. This was has been coveted by our customers for year because it's easy to care for, durable and takes...

Well I just put the Mk4 on my list and even mentioned to buy it directly from the manufacturer's website. I may pick one up for the old man for Christmas as well.

Re: ThermoWorks Ultimate Holiday Giveaway

Jeff,
I logged on specifically to come find your ThermoWorks sale posts. This could be the year that I actually get one. Thinking of putting one on my bday / christmas list for the kids to gift me. You've got three different posts, you're killing me here!

The Anryu is as good of a choice now as it was then. Solid knife that you can grow into and use for many years into the future. It's a great place to start.

Re: Has Moritaka changed cosmetically during last years?

I've had an AS 150mm petty for about five years now. Used at home on a regular basis. I'm not a fan of KU finishes and this is the only one I own. The KU finish started coming off fairly quickly early on. One day I decided to simply remove it. It didn't take much effort and aside from the finish th...

Re: Konosuke vs Shibata Sujihikis

The question I often ask myself and others as it relates to a suji is "how do you use it during dinner?" Like you my suji gets used more for cooked proteins than raw fish. My suji comes out and stays out during dinner, typically not being wiped down until after the meal is over. For me, th...

10)Do you know how to sharpen? Getting into whetstones have used Spyderco sharpmaker. Was thinking of a Takeda but open to other options. Thanks! My only recommendation is to make sure you've read up on some of the sharpening guidance specific to Takeda's knives. I wouldn't recommend it as an early...

I've been a happy Shapton Glass user for several years after switching away from Chosera. As a matter of fact I just finished flattening them all out back not more than an hour ago (500-8K).

Re: Knife of the Decade 2010-2019

Sorry but I have to pee into the wind here. I would vote for the Fujiyama here except for the fact that it isn't stainless clad or offered in that option. A small point but important to many of us not wanting to deal with patina. While a newcomer i have to give my vote to the new SKD which I believ...
