Re: @LaVieestBelle - My Knife Budget

For me it's a host of things. I'm a city dweller but because of the type of work I do I need a truck. My parents have a 250 acre farm and having a truck is very useful there too. After driving a truck for so many years I actually love sitting high and being able to observe my entire surroundings bet...

Re: Black Friday sale this year???

I think that whatever everyone's feelings about the pros and cons of sales may be, this was simply a smart, thoughtful, and very personal decision on the part of two great people as they assessed what would be best for them this particular year, for their particular small business. Bet they come up...

Re: Echizen Knives: Blue and White Steels - Takefu Steel or Hitachi?

There are too many internet warriors that like to express opinion or rumors as fact to make themselves feel superior. There are also too many, as Joe has pointed out, that just parrot things they have heard/read but never actually confirm. There are too many that just don't like to do the research a...

Re: The Steak Knife Conundrum

Tim Johnson(Taz) started making handles that shape years ago, not sure if he was the first, and many handle makers around here followed. He called them "octoval." Yes, it us a very common shape for Wa handles these days. I certainly didn't come up with it. Although its common for a reason! It's dea...

Re: Echizen Knives: Blue and White Steels - Takefu Steel or Hitachi?

Most of that is false. Takefu steel sources steel for the Takefu knife makers because most can't afford to or don't have the storage for the minimums required by Hitachi. I could easily surmise that this was one of the major contributing factors for forming Takefu village. Takefu steel also does mos...
