I have a couple of Moritakas. While they are not daily drivers, they do see use. Both still look good.

Handmade Sayas
Started makinig my own sayas earlier this year. I have a pretty primative set-up. I started with a coping saw, hand chisels, & sandpaper/hand block. I recently upgraded to a handheld belt sander & a jig saw for shaping. I still carve the interior & finish by hand. My first few all by han...

Re: What's your current go to knife?
At work, I mostly grab my Kaeru 150 sld petty, & a 240mm Masakage Yuki white #2gyuto. At home, I tend to grab my Tanaka ginsan 240 gyuto & Tanaka ginsan 150 petty.

Re: Masashi Yamamoto, anyone?
Sorry to resurrect and older post but I am looking at this exact same knife and was wondering if the OP could let me know how it is. I am quite new to the forum so if this is bad form could someone let me know. Thank you. I ended up getting a 210mm sld gyuto from Masashi. It is an amazing cutter. T...

Re: Refinishing handle
FYI, I'm 99.9% that the Yuki is NOT Ho wood, but Magnolia wood, which is why it has a different feel, character, color, and density than most Ho wood handles. Kurosaki AS 170mm ku santoku. A lot beefier than I expected. Spine is nice & thick, then tapers down. Gives the blade a workhorse feel. Cuts like a dream.

Re: No service interruptions.
Thanks guys. This helps a lot. I tried to buy a pack of 20 off eBay a couple days ago. After I paid, eBay pulled the item & flagged the seller. Now I have to wait until the 10th to file a claim. My mother-in-law is 81 & has cancer. My wife is her caregiver. We have been looking everywhere fo...
