Re: Fingernail Clippers (Toenails too!)
Thanks to CKTG stocking these and this post, I looked into Japanese nail clippers for the first time and they are quite nice
Not sure why I was always okay with the cheap store brand ones here, they are awful and not much cheaper

Re: Takamura pro?
As far as I know, CKTG has never carried the Takamura pro series. The only western store that carries/has carried them in the past is MTC Kitchen. That being said, the last time I remember seeing them in stock was 5 years ago? I believe they are primarily sold in Japan. Also, if I remember correctly...

This is quite the collection. Some of these deals are absolutely phenomenal.
I'm really glad I got my hands on my Anryu 300mm Suji, or else I would have had to buy the Masamoto Sohonten Korin White 330 in a heart beat.

Re: Anryu Knives Updates
It's nice to see the line is continued on! I know a lot of people love these blades and I am glad he found someone that can make them still! Yeah I couldn't agree more. I was so sad when I saw Anryu retired, and so happy when I got my hands on an Ikeda blue #2 out of the blue. I actually haven't se...

Re: Anryu Knives Updates
I’m glad to see you’re getting one after letting go of the older one. Please let us know how it compares to your older 220 as best as you can. I have a B2 Hammered 210 and 240 and would possibly like to add some others from the line. Sorry, I never saw your question about this! I actually found the...

Re: new member/owner ... now heartbroken :/
Don't worry! A lot of out of the box edges are extra prone to chipping That will come out in no time with a tiny bit of elbow grease and a stone If you aren't currently the owner of a sharpening stone, a king 300 and a king 1000 are very inexpensive entries into whetstones. Personally, I have a shap...

Re: WTS: Takeda NAS Small Gyuto
Always loved my takeda before I got rid of it. Only got rid of it at the time because I had like 6 210mm gyutos. This shouldn't last very long, I heard these have become much harder to come by.

Re: Which yanagiba's are your favorites?
I have yanagibas by many makers and love them all. Really no favorites as they are all so very different. Thin ones, thick ones, slim, fat....so many styles, it just depends on you personal preferences and what fish you are using it for. Keijiro Doi, Genkai Masakuni, Tanaka/Shiraki/Fujiyama, Tatsuo...

Unexpected email at 5:30 last night, all in Japanese. Was about to leave my house to meet up for a get together, noticed it, and almost ignored it as spam. Suddenly remembered I'm on Takefu Knife Village's email notification list for the last year. Scramble to create an account on the all Japanese s...

I ended up going with Poitr the Bear's leather and oak stand which has the knives sitting on it horizontally https://piotrthebear.com/front-page/leather-and-oak-knifestand I am very happy with it. Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well. So, I find myself in a strange situation. Re: Masamoto KS -- stamped?
Stamped or forged means nothing to a knifes performance or quality. That is determined by the heat treatment, geometry and finish. Stamped knives come from forged steel. The new grind of the KS will affect it's performance much more than it being stamped. I have not compared my old grind Masamoto K...
