Re: Himalayan Salt BlocK

I have been reading about cooks who use the Himalayan Salt Block. It sounds interesting but can’t quite believe how good they say the food comes out. Any chefs here have any experience with these and if so share your insight on it. Thanks I got one maybe 5 years ago. Biggest one I could find, somew...

Overtime? Blood, Kidneys? Other hobbies? Maybe not the house or kids. Lol.

Re: Those hard questions

how Many mountain bikes? Full suspension? Don’t forget the accessories...

I am a fan of diversified hobbies and activity.

I suspect 20 gyutos would be the cheaper option.

Edit. I reread the op. It doesn’t say a first mtb...

Definitely agree on sous vide and sear at end for leaner cuts (it is the only way to make tenderloin tasty imho). For rib eye, many paths work as it is a well marbled cut.
Another vote for SV and Sear.

Re: Dao Vua Handle... now what ?

get a new handle. Or A couple dollars in epoxy will put it back together. Dao tangs are not shaped like other tangs. Some are thicker and twisted. Never messed with handles at ALL. Was kinda hoping for advise of howto or where to get that done... I guess on an $80 knife experimenting with my own re...

Re: Shun Blue vs. Dual Core

Personally, I would go with blue over dual core (vg10/vg2) just for the sake of carbon over Stainless.

https://instagram.com/p/B3DmCpyHUnJ/media/?size=l For those of you not counting, that is a 17 piece handle. A lot of work. Yes, it was. Lol. And it was worth it. I called this client to talk about another handle ready to ship. The wife answered the phone and never having talked to me before knew ex...

Re: Looking for a Handle / Handle Craftsman

My first question would be what do you like? Wood, micarta, resin? I always tell people to scroll through Instagram and document what they like and don’t like. Some designers call it a mood board.

Advice for noobies

I was looking at a knife rev posts elsewhere online and realizing, if I had to do it again, I would suggest a different route! I upgraded my blades, then realized I wanted/needed to become a better sharpener. I learned how to sharpen/tweak fit and finish on a blade/rehandle knives after I started up...

Would be curious to hear how you fitted the scale to that curved bolster.
That was my fear too. I reached out to GeorgeK and he cast the resin around the curve. I cleaned it up.

Just wait... see what I am about to post. I have been working quite a bit with GeorgeK as my supplier. He has some really cool offerings.
