5, 1 and 8. I think 5 and 8 would be better if the lighter woods in both combinations were darker.
Edit: on my phone and I can't tell if any of the ferrels are plastic. I think 1 is? I think most of us avoid plastic ferrules

Re: Can I ask a knife recommendation?
Closest I could find would be Kizer Splinter frame lock titanium https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=40&v=BO0RVgneWX4, <link here!> for about $123 USD. The blade is a combination of a wharncliff and a drop point with not much belly. That may or may not be a good thing for you. I'm not fa...

Re: Knife ID
first two smaller kanji read: 登録 Tou roku--which translates to "registration" The next three (I think) read: 宗円作 So en saku --Meaning "the work of 'Soen" Google gave me https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fja.m.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%...

Re: Masakage Shimo refinish question
20190809_000156.jpg Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm attaching a photo. The scratches are slightly deeper than the normal finishing marks that go from spine to edge. They don't show up well in the picture but at on angle the light glares off the freshly exposed steel. The scratches are of cours...

Masakage Shimo refinish question
I picked up a new Masakage Shimo and it came with a some slight rust that it picked up during shipping. One of the first things I tried was a damp paper towel and some soap to polish off the rust and the paper towel. That was a mistake as the cladding is soft. I pushed too hard and there are a bunch...

Re: Any interest in 3D printed handles?
I think any practical shape that can be 3D printed for a knife handle can be made out of wood or micarta or other common handle material. What can't be done easily is the colors however. You could mix pretty much any combination of different colors and with any type of pattern. I think you could com...

Re: What do you think about this grind?
Anryu B2 Hammered is a highly regarded line with the reputation of outstanding performance for its price point. That said, yeah the grind line looks off in following the profile of the knife. I think DO its normal however. As stated previously there is a Japanese aesthetic of seeing beauty in imperf...

Re: How do you know you're a [CKTG/Knife] addict
If my S.O. were ever to navigate to my order history, and see the damage, I would be on my way to some long-term, in-patient facility, with no chance of early release. What is the number of knives where normal people start to say, "You know, I think you may have a problem..." And then the...

VCI Paper question
First post! Hello! I just purchased an Anryu Blue #2 hammered 150mm Petty, my first "real" kitchen knife. Took it out of the box, gave it a rinse then started cutting up some salmon. I didn't realize it was wrapped in VCI paper in the box. Just how toxic is the paper? Was I ok just rinsing...
