Re: Black Friday
I was planning on sitting this one out, but I got a ys. If anyone is looking for a shibata kashima, let me know. Nice! I'm jealous. I asked for that one to be put on sale, but I am trying to stay strong. It helps that I really wanted the oversized 210 and not the 240, so there's far less incentive....

Re: Konosuke MM Info Please?
I really like my 240 MM. I have too many knives for my needs, and I use this gyuto and my Toyama almost exclusively. I really need to get around to selling my other knives. It's a middleweight forged knife with a long flat spot, sharp out of the box with good edge retention. If you like the profile,...

For a while now I've thought the profile picture was you with a bird or parrot of some type. I even knew from previous posts you had that dog and were quite fond of it. And now I know.

Re: Why so Hard to Land the Rare Knife
I wouldn't necessarily interchange the words fair with gaming an existing system. Humans are smart and crafty. It's a shame things become an arms race because of the nature of people and product. Intent means everything in these circumstances, and on this planet to make things better for everyone we...

Edge leading pushing strokes (switch hands). I keep contact in both directions but apply pressure with edge leading strokes.

Re: Has anyone been to the Portland Knife House?
I stumbled into Seisuke earlier this summer walking along Alberta. It was a smaller shop, and I didn't know it opened only recently. Nice displays, smallish variety. Custom handles are what I remember too, inflating the prices a bit.
Thanks for the info

Has anyone been to the Portland Knife House?
I went there once when I was shopping for my first J Knife. They seem to have a large stock, but I was pretty green back then, and still am. I tend to not listen to or trust salesmen, and like my methodical approach of finding information and the low pressure of shopping online. I do however think h...

That wasn't my implication. I just never have seen anything like it. Was hoping to see a photo. You should know that spine thickness above the heel has nothing at all to do with cutting performance, right?

What's nice when you're in the position, you can more easily let a knife go to acquire another.matchplay18 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 3:57 pm I already have about 26 really nice knifes. And I wish I would just be content with what I have. But I might be missing something better. Crazy state of mind I will admit.

Re: KS clones
I have a Konosuke GS+ KS profile. Only used a couple of times and never sharpened. It's very much a laser, and I'd sell it for $200 if you're interested. I have an HD2 and a White #2 Kono laser with a custom handle, so it's a bit redundant outside of the profile. It's a about 10mm longer than those ...

I might have one for you. I'm just trying to decide if I can part with it. I really like the knife and profile. It's unsharpened with a forced patina, used mostly slicing carrots making dinner for one.

The real question is how open is your pocket book
I don't have any, but the most recent (only) Fujiyama's I've seen posted here were north of $1k

Re: KS initial impressions
I might be in that boat ... great knife but I'm struggling to really like it as much as people seem to think I should be. Do you want it to try as well? or you know you want one? That's a really nice gesture. I will pass though, thank you. I'm feel too green to borrow someone's knife or to know rea...

Re: KS initial impressions
Anyone know where I can get a NiB KS other than from the Hacho site? Their price seems a little steep, even if it comes with a Masamoto saya (which I'm not totally sure it does).
