Re: Favorite Kitchen Item?

Vitamix! If you know you know, just an incredible, versatile, overbuilt appliance that is so many leagues above other blenders it cannot be compared.

Re: Konosuke Updates

In their gallery in sakai, as they mention. I would infer that this would entail a registry through all dealers, but that is the curious part, could not then custom orders be placed? Might snowball. Long wait lists would most likely accrue and the managing of them could prove burdensome. The impetus...

This seemed worthy of gathering feedback about here from those that may not have seen it, certainly interesting what this might look like.

Re: Carbon steel blades no good

Ah I see, thank you for the clarification on that. I initially read they're thing as generalities, none of which caught me as being necessarily wrong given the conventional knowledge I've been exposed to. Interesting the butchers cleaver analogy, never thought of it like that but totally true. Alway...

Re: Carbon steel blades no good

Curious, what are the supposed errors that are being addressed? I see metallurgical information being given to expand upon the prior statements made but nothing being refuted? I can see the information being viewed as generic as per the bot thing.

Re: Another kickstarter knife solution in search of a problem

Been fascinated by this tech for a decade, seeing a portable version with a large enough blade for kitchen tasks and a much more digestable price tag is quite compelling, this tech has historically been relegated to industrial use scalpels for shaping dense polymers, resins, injection molds etc. And...

Criteria 1: Applicability . My Ethos has always been "what's the simplest answer that achieves the same desired results, not "does it also have this form factor" i don't care if it can't go through paper whisper quiet, it will still go through paper, can't push cut paper towels? What ...

Re: Show us your knife collection.

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with it! I love my dexter russell, one of the best bangs for your buck out there and can take some serious punishment. I chop/ push cut exclusively but mostly chop and don't have too much problems with stickage, but that mirror finish acts like a suction cup to thin cuts of ...

That was a really cool promotion to see and take part of, thank you mark!! Takeda drops are so sparse and unknown, it was fun to be able to set my sights and snipe just the piece I wanted, and what a rush to get it!!

Re: Left handed user advice

Lefty here, yeah you're on the right track with double bevels, but it's a largely obsolete distinction with the grind, as Mr. Suburban stated it's a safe assumption that most all edges are 50/50, in the odd case of a 70/30 or other such bias they're won't be a tangible difference in it's steering fo...

Re: Show us your new knife!

Well chosen, I sympathize fully. Once the takeda bug got me last year I was hooked. I can finally say I'm not violently compelled to get another, after my NAS hunter gets delivered that is...save for maybe a folder lol. The cleaver is by far the favorite for me, I'm a chef and it's hands down my mos...

Indeed! Very cool. They seem old american to me, not being bolstered and not nogent style, a Goodell or pre stamp dexter? I say with the limited studying I've done.
I hope to develop a great patina like those

New to me at least, this heirloom beast deserves it's own post in the future, just shear old world awesomeness!! 100 year old hand forged virgin carbon steel Henckels in the largest size ever offered. Original ebony scales show off the tapered tang which makes for a surprisingly controllable feel in...

Re: Welcome To Chefknivestogo Forums! Introduce Yourself!

Greetings all, long time listener first time caller here. Loved blades my whole life, got my first pocket knife at age 5 (a 2 blade slip joint Barlow I still have) and have run the gamut from katanas and bowies to all things outdoors(have a hoffman axe on order), I've maintained and sharpened everyt...
