Re: Top Three (Right Now)

Right now my top three for using is: Ikeda 250mm KS Damascus Aogami super The more I use that knife the more the knife grows on me. Besides it being brutally reactive it is starting to die down and I absolutely love it. It is definitely punching way above its weight class. I would put it in the Fuji...

Re: Best Active Japanese blacksmith ?

Ok I'll go with Omega even though I agree with every other person above... I will also tell you my preference in knives highly influences who I think is the best or the up and coming best knife makers. I love double bevel knives that are considered middle weight yet are thin behind the edge to be co...

Re: Konosuke Updates

Hi Mark/Kosuke, will there be another batch of the "Shinogi Style Fujiyama" this year? Many thanks. I was not quick enough for the last batch of the beauties .... We’ll try to prepare! And once again to the couch I will go if I land one of these! Thank you though for all your hard work!

Re: Octagonal vs hexagonal wa handles

It is close to the same dimensional shape but thinner. I have two Hitohira Kikuchiyo and Kyuzo. So I think they have the same handles.

Re: WTS: Takamura Uchigumo 240mm Gyuto

I had the 210mm version of this. It is better than advertised! The heat treat on this is spot on. Lasts forever on edge retention. Takes a wicked edge. Also $600 for this much of a knife is an awesome deal! Glws!

Re: Octagonal vs hexagonal wa handles

It is pretty tall. It is much more slender and streamlined than the Khi handles on the konos.

Re: Octagonal vs hexagonal wa handles

I have a custom handle on an Ikeda 250mm KS Damascus Aogami super made by Schroeder and is one of the most comfortable handles I've ever used and it's a octagonal knife. I am normally more partial to d handles or oval ish type handles.

Re: Konosuke Updates

Not to mention Mark sells knives to us usually at a much lesser rate than other knife companies when it comes to the high demand knives!
