Nice work! That is a great torches tone.
Is this for left-handed comfort or are you right handed?
Thank you!
I'm right handed, and the double D feels great in hand

Did you remove the handle, or did you do the sanding with it still attached to knife?
Still attached to knife. Just kept the blade covered and protected during the process

Re: Re-profiled wa handle

I've thought about doing this in the past to make a few handles more comfortable. I think you may have just pushed me over the edge! Jeff, you should definitely do it. I was on the fence with these knives prior to modding the handle. Great blades, handles just weren't my cup of tea. Now I'm all in

Re: Show us your new knife!

In an effort to "save time" I used the ubiquitous little harbor freight belt sander to knock off the initial bevels, then the rest by hand. Really not hard at all. The sandpapers I used were grits 80 on up to 1500, then on to fine micro mesh pads to buff the buffalo horn. For the wooden part of the ...

Re: Show us your new handle

I should have posted the 210 Mazaki here originally. But here it is with a matching 240mm that I finished yesterday.
The 240 I converted to just a classic D-shape handle, then torched it nicely. I'm really liking this new look for both of these.

Re-profiled wa handle

Finally got around to doing something I have been wanting to do for a while. I was thinking about it, but when I saw Chocu1a do it with his Mazaki I was motivated to do it even more. With weather being a beautiful 60's today, and my being off, I finally got around to it. First I re-profiled the wa h...

David Lisch Gyuto - SOLD

Up for sell is a gyuto by David Lisch, MS. Can't believe I'm letting this one go. David just makes amazing knives, pure and simple. His unique sculpted integral bolster on this, along with the western handle, makes this blade very comfortable to wield with any style of grip. The steel is W2, and ben...

WTS KONOSUKE FUJIYAMA FT B2 240

This knife is still new in the box. I keep planning on using it, but just haven't gotten to it yet. It's absolutely gorgeous, and one that I really don't want to let go of. However a custom is up and I need to create funds for it. Price is $480 shipped conus (PayPal included). Shipping outside of co...

Re: Show us your new knife!

Medium carbon Damascus clad 52100 core gyuto with forged (and super thin) distal taper from Tobi / Metal Monkeys. Very impressive F&F, and performance. That looks incredible! How tall is that? How do you like the D handle on it? It's about 53mm at the heel. The handle is more a western wa hybrid wi...

Re: Show us your new handle

Just built my first handle to go with a Konosuke Fujiyama Funayuki 247x53 blade. I used the existing blonde buffalo horn and attached it to a fun piece of ironwood. I'm quite pleased with it, but it was making me nervous during the process.
Handle is an octagonal hybrid, with the top portion rounded.
