Re: Black Friday/Cyber Monday Wish Lists

Picked up the $20 kogatana for a shop knife. It’s a really nice project knife. I had enough fun with it that I ordered 3 more.

Hybrid honeycomb. These blocks are tough to work, as the small honeycomb tends to be full of gaps

Re: 2019 Gallery

Where are you sourcing the gidgee? I like some pieces at Greenberg, but prices are kinda prohibitive with targeted sale values. Seen some nice stuff on Ebay, but, well, its Ebay. I get it direct from Australia by a few people, if you need a block or so, send me a DM. Even direct, the prices tend to...

Howzit from the Big Island. Have been wanting to forge but I have no room. Next best thing, handling blank blades.

Re: 2019 Gallery

First mammoth tusk handle. This block was really rustic, so I paired its with a nice ringed Gidgee to give it a Paleolithic look and feel. Love it! What's the weight like on these? That was 77g for a 240 workhorse or 270. The weight is on par with heavier woods like ebony, ironwood or gidgee. It ca...

Re: Dao Vua Handle... now what ?

Get a new handle, old stock or custom made. You can use it as an opportunity to have a project knife, or send it off for repair.

For those inquiring, this is what a variety of pheasant wood looks like. This came from Malaysia, I’m not sure how different it is from the Hawaiian stock. https://i.imgur.com/8lrxijL.jpg Here’s an unpolished block, you can see the patterns can get pretty cool https://i.imgur.com/wfSxN36.jpg
