I know you want wood, but I am totally amazed by Hasegawa cutting boards. Easy to keep clean, come in many sizes, light and much much easier on your edges than wood. Otherwise I have excellent experiences with the Boardsmith as well :)

I gave my better half a Takamura santoku (no pointy tip was the requirement), that I keep moderately sharp. Seems to do the job :)
