I think it was fair, the last one sold about the same a few weeks/months back. Though, I agree, it's a lot of knife for that price.

Yeh, it's nice! I recommend .. but I might be biased :P
(biased now in particular .. and in general, I have another hammered yoshikaine 180, likely made by the same hammer, both wonderful knives).

Re: Controlled Angle Sharpeners

Lansky is a great start! If you want the full 9 yards, go for wicked edge and never look back. You'll pay a bit of premium on stones and won't have as much choice. You gain near 100% reproducible results. Even good hand sharpener can have worse variance. Yes guided systems sometimes vary angle with ...

I'd say Shiro Kamo or Shinko Kurokumo, they are also very pretty.

Re: Show us your new knife!

A new recent addition, the CCK KF 1912 small stainless cleaver, bought from CKTG ... because I had a terrible itch to play with something new. It's pretty great, can totally see how it can be a one knife solution, somehow food release still ok-ish, considering it's big and flat. Infinite scoop power...

Re: Next Batch Shape of FM B#2 GT240

1 has the boring bullnose.
2 has a great tip but I'd like more flat.
3 seems pretty great, though a little short at heal?

You may have posted a link to google drive link that wasn't listed as public so it won't show up for most of us. (you can test this by openning this page in incognoto mode).
Try imgur.com sometime, it's pretty much where all of reddit images are hosted.

Re: Do you outgrow your "basic" knives after you purchase higher end knives?

Sometimes higher end knives do out perform and are worth keeping .. so I keep that. Sometimes higher end knvies are only 2% better and aren't worth the 3x cost increase .. so I sell those. Sometimes my "basic" knives surprise me how enough-for-me they are and I have a life-decision-questin...

Re: Newbie bought a seven piece set of Kramer Zwilling Meiji for $749 new

At 50% Kramers are really good value. Though you probably won't use all the knives so that lessens things a bit. You may have gotten slightly better value if you shopped around and bought 3 or 4 specific knives, but I don't think it'll be that much, they likely wouldn'tlook as good and you'd be spoi...
