Re: Those hard questions

Hobbies, always a fun subject. My own opinion is sell two knives and get the MTB bike but it seems that same opinion may change again and again, I’m wishy washy that way. The nice things about knives is they retain their value better than most hobbies, especially if your pulling them out if the BSTs...

Anryu hammered blue#2. I have a 240, favorite blade for melons and squash. It destroys them.

Re: Shohonyama Awase Toishi Pass Around

Stone is here, received in good condition. I’ll spend some time with it this weekend before I head out of town Monday. Who is next? I’ll get it headed your way Monday.

Looks like a great stone, it will be fun to see what it’s all about.

Re: Recent Work

This is a new handle/saya for a Konosuke HD 270mm gyuto. The handle is ironwood burl and the saya is ironwood. Tracking says it should be delivered by the time I get back home, along with that beautiful differentially hardened 240 you made! They look superb Carter. I guess that’s what you do, make ...

I used the suji once myself. Bought one of the wa handle versions and let that one go, that knife is in fantastic shape and a great suji!

Re: WTS: Konosuke Fujiyama B#2 240mm Gyuto

I have one. I had an FT too. Not much difference in performance but kept the FM in Blue. These are beautiful knives that perform on the board, one of the purest cutters out there. They last minutes when in stock, either the demand is slowing down or this is a sleeper. If your debating I’ll just tell...

Re: Need to strop

You have great stones, lots of guys use those stones and get great results. I’ve seen more than one pro use SG stones. They are great for a variety of steels, don’t dish badly and cut fast with little load up. I’ll echo what has already been said, practice, lots of stone time. I’ve found many of the...

Re: New handles

I’m considering doing a new handle in quantity using cocobolo for the body and maybe stabilized maple for the spacer and Blackwood for the ferrule. I really like the bog oak ones we did at the beginning of the year and want to add another one to the mix. Egg me on and I’ll do it. :) They would be s...

Fun thread. I like it when the Boss can poke fun at himself and laugh. I'm sure we all do weird things when we are trying to hard to concentrate and keep that angle and pressure just right!

:D I tend to talk to myself...and I can be pretty verbally abusive at times and hurt my feelings. :( I do give give myself some praise too when all goes well just to keep the peace. :P And hey, we all own and get off on thousands of dollars worth of knives and rocks, we are weird!  :l...

I recently jumped on the Raquin bandwagon too. My photo skills aren’t quite up to Steve’s level but here are a few shots of my 255 KT

Re: Show us your new knife!

I’ve slowed down on knife purchases, but I pretty much forced a good buddy to sell this to me as soon as I found out that he had it. I’ve been wanting one for the longest time so I definitely owe my buddy a big favor for passing this one off to me. Measures 272x55 😍 And no....I didn’t get a new pia...
