Re: Can't Decide

Based off you saying that you've owned a Tank. What exactly did you not like about it that made you want to get rid of it? And what adjustments did you have to make? It's a unique (in its proper sense), fun battleaxe of a knife that cuts like a beast and I really wanted to like. Unfortunately, the ...

Re: Top Ten Kitchen

Definitely no pro, here, rather just a fella who would be a competent home cook. In the spirit of the list, and given this neighborhood where everyone already rather partial to knives, I'll omit cutlery, board, and appurtenances thereof. 1) 3 qt copper saute pan - Lots of pots and pans in my kitchen...

Re: Can't Decide

You're right. I guess a more comparable knife to the Tank would be the Bunka from Takeda. As far as my current kit, it doesn't necessarily have a gap. I'm just looking for something different to play around with. And I'm kinda drawn into these knifes based off the large height of them. Disclosure: ...

👍🏻👍🏻 To you Sean

Man those look sleek. Never heard of Blu..
To make a crude comparison to sharp pointy things, Blu Skillets are sorta like Raquin or Comet: boutique producers with a demand significantly higher than supply that insta-sell out when they go on sale.

Re: No service interruptions.

Hi Mark, appreciate your gesture here w/ regard to masks and respirators. I don't even think these should be available for public purchase. Rather, they should be forwarded to your local hospital that will need them sooner than later. Another option would be to reach out to hospitals in NY, NOLA, CA...

Mazaki at work. This entire video is great and toward the end, at the 12m 28s mark, he finishes by chiseling his name.

WTS: Ashi Ginga Stainless 150 Petty

Straight outta Laser Land, here we have an Ashi stainless petty with ho-wood handle and complimentary Ashi saya. Used a handful of times to segment citrus, the blade has never been sharpened and maintains impeccable shape. The buffalo-horn ferrule carries a surface scuff that isn't always noticeable...

Also they have slightly higher HRC, I believe, compared to standard Ashi.

Shibata Kotetsu R2 135 Ko-Bunka - SOLD!

From Shibata's R2 laser lineup, this is the short-in-length, tall-in-height ko-bunka with rosewood handle. Used lightly at home and never sharpened, the stainless blade has bit of faint patina that can be visible under direct sunlight. (See last photo.) Length: 134mm Height: 40mm Includes: Original ...

Been after an Ashi for a long time, 249x50 with crazy cool banding. This may be one of those knives that you want forever but release it after checking it out, too nice to use.
