i use FeCl gives a grey even etch. i have seen mustard etches done that give a motteled finish. you coudl also see about old school gun browning type finish alot of my tools have been browned to keep rust away

depending on budget you could mock up a cardboard blade and handle combo that make all the angles just right for your work space height and wrist angle. in a way i woudl be building you an extension of your arm

i have not forgot about you all but have been working on an 140 knife order of balisong knives the parers are heat treated and part ground have to hollow grind them but need to get a batch of the balisongs out he door first

will likly be all Ti and a frame lock maybe a G10 or CF non lock side to cut weight

layed out a bunch of parers and line knives on the sheet and a few other things i hope to have them HTed in a week or so but i have bladeshow stuff to finfish up also so i have to spllit time a bit

had a masterr smith tell me one of my single bevels was bent when he eyed the grind. told him to lay the knife on the table low and behold it was just the grind messing with the eyes that said i ll look at the video and see how it looks

i use XHP at 63rc in the past i have used cpm154 and O1. i ll put a bunch of parers in the next batch and some line knives. just a note i do have a parer right now and a few other blades that came back from the ECG i ll update my forum post with what is on hand
