Re: Damascus etch making knife sticky

if it was me i would etch the hell out of it then buff it to knock the corners off the layers. you coudl still see the layers a bit but with all the edges rounded less drag and better for food stiction

Re: Is there a “best” steel?

have to say in grinding and sharpening PM grades are always nicer to work then the std melt of the same alloy. most the time you can also run PM grades 2 points harder with the same toughness. for sure there will be a cost difference in my eyes tho if i can get the grade in PM melt i pay for the ext...

Re: stones for powdered steels with high wear resistance

the biggest thing is 'clean edge " no wire edge so as you sharpen make sure to finish one pass per side. some steels are really bad about giving up that "flappy bit" depending on how they were heat treated. i like my steels on the harder side even with my folders. hell my camp knife i...

Re: CPM steels

didnt think there was much V in magnacut. i like diamond hones for most any steel cause of the speed they cut/hone steel. 3V is not to bad to sharpen on other stones. im not sure how hard peoeple are running M390. i know 204P at 59rc is not bad at all but really not the edge holder i was hopping for...
