the coil shot looks very much like the KS that I studied/measured. Actually this looks to be the absolute closest to the masamoto ks of any others, including profile and geometry. very cool indeed! a sandblast finish on the iron seems like a very strange choice, seems it would have significant maint...

I dont mind using the plastic..it is impervious to moisture and protects the wood from getting too wet during washing. It is an ingenious design solution that belongs best on those knives that are pure function/working man's (or women's) tool. just my 2 cents :)

I will be using NitroV ...but what I am trying to achieve is similar to what is going on with BD1N...the fine tuned alloying allows for a higher hardness without being stupid brittle... so in terms of grinding/finishing you end up with a steel that is similar if not iden...

good call....gonna do a chili this weekend ...I will do a white turkey chili and the wife will do a venison chili, then we will ...gulp... combine them! I love the idea of layering some buttered noodles on the bottom...fantastic!
