It may sounds silly, but sometimes a 225 or 230 is prefect. I also employ a few 250s. These slight variances can mean a lot when dialing in to your preferred knife. Of course, not very common in the j-knife realm, but it seems western makers are willing to embrace the margins. Good luck

Appreciate the help and will try to post a pic when all is done. What kind of knife is it. You may be able to post a WTB ho wood handle and get a u...

Re: Recent work, February 2018
Look great. You are not making knives now, just handles and sayas, right? That saya goes really well with the Kochi handle. Just handle and saya work for the time being. But, I am piecing together some equipment, and am hoping to build my forge soon. Thanks for checking π And I agree, the burnt che...

Check out Kevin Pellegrino. He's got some mad skills on the whetstones. https://www.instagram.com/kasumikev/ Does Kevin do work on others knives? I always just assumed they were all his own. Kevin just finished up my Takeda 270 gyuto that had a tricky spot along the edge, and I there is not a trace...

Re: Hot & Spicy
New Mexico Hatch extra hot chiles for me. I used to travel there for business frequently and have a vendor that gets very hot chilies from a few farmers and ships me 20 - 40 pounds at a time. We blister them on the gas BBQ and store them in zipped locked bags in the freezer. Just remember to take o...

First and foremost I'd like to compliment you on the very nice work and beautiful craftsmanship! Secondly, I've been checking CKTG daily for a saya for my Takeda small Sasanoha (180) with no luck. Today I stumbled upon this forum during my daily CKTG "new arrivals" search. I was pleasantl...
