Re: Shipping a stone

I have reached out. Once I cooled down a little. :) I will see what happens. And no way was it anyone on here. That I know of. But I will out him to save any one else this kind of " transaction". That's the worst part. I have bought from people that I would gladly send $$ to and wait if I had to. I ...

Re: Shipping a stone

As have i ! Never a problem, and it was an individual. Worst part is after I contacted them I get this: " I am sorry to hear that. For this stone, I like to apply the mud of the stone using diamond lapping plate to a piece of balsa wood and sharpen on it. This gives me a very consistent finish and n...

Love it when you get feedback after time has passed. Gives you a longer term perspective on completed projects. Did you just stack them with epoxy?

Re: Handle day and a wood finishing question

+1 on the epoxy. I switched to thin ca "super glue" . Multiple coats so it is slower to raise to surface height. The drying spray works wonders but do not hold the sprayer to close to the wood. The pressure from the spray blows the thin glue right back out of the check. Ask me how I know. :) Some of...

Plus with a new handle I can fine tune the balance point to where I like my blades. Plus I just like making them. :)

Really happy with this rehandle and say Bensbites did for me on my Shibata Kashima. Greenberg Woods olivewood bur, coclbolo ferrule and quilted maple saya/spacers. BTW, that's a HIba board from Mark. https://i.imgur.com/Yz7a3VH.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/sVtOkWy.jpg This! Is what makes me continue my...

Gratz on the stone! Enjoy it. I was fairly impressed with its speed for a 2k. It's going in a travel bag along with a 500. Means when we visit people, I can just sharpen their knives and avoid socialization all together. It's a win, win, win. I'm leaning toward the socialization part. You are not a...

Re: Don't judge me for this one..

A lot of people don't' have the experience or attention to detail to really discern subtle differences in products so, they tend to follow "the herd" and become fanboys and fangirls of whatever product they end up with. Once you get past that, there are a lot of personal preferences and pet peeves....

Just got these huge slabs at work. Gratis. The guys logging the site had no idea what they were. Fully explained it to him and traded him an almost new Kershaw for them. He was thrilled with the trade. He was "just going to burn them with the stumps". ( shiver) Sooooo......after they get cut into us...

Re: How do you polish a knife with stones?

I don't sharpen after drinking. I thin while drinking, otherwise it won't get done. :P Well, on these mono steel blades anyway. That is why if I am coming across as abrasive, I apologize. My wife and I are on holiday starting today so we are having some drinks. :D You abrasive. That's funny. One of...
