Anyway, and resources/links for good methods for seasoning? I think I may strip them and try again. Sir, This thread contains just about eeeeevery variation o...

Re: Paralysis by Analysis - Help Choosing 1st (Flat?) Gyuto/Kiritsuke

Look at gengetsu semi-stainless at JKI. $300 for the 210mm. Stays sharp forever. Very flat profile.

Re: go to recipes for the whole fam (young children)

Anything with pasta is usually good.

- Pasta con broccoli
- 20 minute thai noodle bowls
- Bolognese
- Puttanesca
- nyt bbq chicken w/ corn no the cob

My 4 and 1 year old eat all of those. On nights where I know they will not like what I am making they get chicken nuggets and peas lol

Re: Dutch Oven/Braiser

I have a 7qt dutch oven from Staub and a cheaper ~5qt enamled cast iron braiser from Aldi. I use both frequently. There is a lot of overlap, sure, but there are also times where one is better to use than the other depending on what is being made. I also cook for large family get togethers fairly oft...

Re: Restaurant Recommendations/Requests

Columbus, Ohio - Wolf's Ridge Brewing - It's a brewery but also one of the best restaurants in the city. Great for dinner and brunch. Watershed - This one is a distillery, but like Wolf's Ridge, also a great restaurant. They also have some serious cocktails. Meshikou - best Ramen spot in Columbus. B...

Re: What did you cook today?

Grilled salmon and asparagus with some crusty bread. Once you grill salmon there is no going back, the only way to cook it imo.

Re: Knife for a college student

At that price point you might look at something like a Gengetsu Semi-Stainless 210mm gyuto from JKI. Great all rounder with a steel that stays sharp for a long time. I'd also stay away from lasers if you do not like food sticking. Thinking back to my own college days, I'd go stainless or semi-stainl...

Re: Takamura R2 vs Harukaze AS 210mm gyutos

Hmm, interesting. So would you say you prefer your ikeda over the tak, or visa versa? Or is it a "both great for different things" situation?
