Feats of sharpness

Post by ChefKnivesToGo »

Show me what you got! Let's see some good cutting demos of super sharp knives. I'm willing to give you a $10 store credit for any of them that I use on the site. I'm sure some of you guys that are good sharpeners can feed your knife habit doing these.

Here are my preferred demo video rules.

Keep em short and sweet. I like cutting demos to be under 30 seconds.
No talkie. These are not for selling they're eye candy to entertain. So unless your a very good singer feel free to just focus on the cutting aspect and not talk.
Make a novice go wow. Most of my customers are relatively new to sharpening and Japanese knives. Show THEM what it's like to have a really sharp knife.
Mix it up. Tomato yes, Phone book yes, Arm Hair yes, Drop tests yes, Sashimi slicing yes please, Onions yes. Speed tests yes (don't cut yourself). You get the idea.

If I use them I will ask you to please link to the item page from your youtube video or if you want to simply email it to me I'll post it on one of my accounts.

I'll add mine as I do them here as well. Hopefully this will inspire me to do more of them myself. Customers enjoy these so I want to help keep them on the page by offering them something fun to look at. Combined with Steve's informative reviews on the same item page it really helps customers see it and feel it as much as can be achieved with an online store like ours.

Have fun!

Why not, I am working on a larger order of handles the next couple nights for a certain client. I have some Artifex and tojiros that could use a workout.

Email sent with raw footage.

My favorite is hair shaving, but my one video of that sucks. My second favorite is push cutting a phonebook because the phonebook is superfluous nowadays, and it's a ridiculous thing to cut.

I've been meaning to do a water bottle cutting video but I don't drink bottled water so no bottles to chop in half... :D

The cool thing about silly cutting videos is that if a doofus like me can sharpen a knife, basically anybody can.

All I had was strawberries in the fridge. With a foot of snow coming to Boston tomorrow, I did what I could I do love that handle!

We don't sell that knife but it's still fun to watch.

Mark, like any of these? they're not so freshly sharpened, but I think they still have a decent edge.
(I accidentally shot the tomatoes in portrait mode.. kicking myself for that one. )

I didn't get it on film but have this as proof of sharpness of a production HHH Gyuto.
8 stitches in my index finger. Never try to catch a knife if you start to drop it.... :?
