Re: Homemade handles
Does anyone have any recommendations for finding someone online who produce high quality custom handles like the ones shown here? I would be interested in buying a few

Beautiful handles! Any tips on getting the perfect octagon shape? I tried to make one and failed terribly.

Re: Homemade handles
It has 8 sides. 360/8=45, if you have a bench sander set the table to 45 and go to town.KnightKnightForever wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 6:27 pm Beautiful handles! Any tips on getting the perfect octagon shape? I tried to make one and failed terribly.

Re: Homemade handles
Lol. That's so simple.. yet didn't even occur to me until now. So I basically cut or sand flipping 7 times at 45 degrees?Kalaeb wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 6:44 pmIt has 8 sides. 360/8=45, if you have a bench sander set the table to 45 and go to town.KnightKnightForever wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 6:27 pm Beautiful handles! Re: Homemade handles
Yup, essentially. I usually add my tapers in before hand so my ferrule will be 2mm smaller than the butt, then I just cut in the angles by flipping. I will do it gradually and make sure everything stays lined up, but if you have a bench sander or even router table it is pretty easy.KnightKnightForever wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 8:30 pmLol. Sorry to derail the thread. Beautiful handles here...it's the finish work that takes a while.

They look great Mr. Ryan.
You can blame Mr. Suburban for my being here.
