thanks. sent you PM.
so the knife was already decently polsihed. it had some deeper grind marks on hira and arroun very edge.
took that down with 1000 synthetic stone. quick job.
after that it was polished on 4k, 6k and 8k synthetic stones also quickly just to remove scratches.
that made knife almost mirror polished. than I tried nakayama hard stone and lost hamon totaly. it was mirror. that was just 10 min polishing to see outcome.
after that I used hazuya fingerstones on the whole blade. than jizuya on hamon area. that made hamon whiter than before but still the small detailes were hidden in the steel. after that I made nugui with kanahada akako and sword oil plus other jar with kanahada, aoko and oil.
filtered it down through the rice paper and rubbed with cotton. first did like an hour with akako than an hour with aoko. finished all with last 2 hours with akako. aoko makes it very dark and glossy so hamon tends to dissapear a bit. akako brings it out nicely again but dark hamon area from aoko remains and details between hamon and hard steel pops out and stays like that. you can see several "layers" of hamon outline which makes it 3D.
at the end I did hadori polish on hagane but made many scratches so had to return back on hazuya and start over again. to make hadori nice you need to select stones which dont scratch at all!
and put slurry so it makes even and nice haze. the only bad thing about this polish is that you like it so much and don't want to use knife :-)

it all comes to the blade quality. you can't bring out sometning that is not there! I did same thing on shiraki usuba but difference is more than obvious. it is nice but no details. no 3D effect. :-(
