Spine and choil finishing

Post by Fredward »

Just sanded up my Tanaka sekiso’s choil and spine. They weren’t bad but the choil has some pretty hearty grind marks and I just really wanted a super smooth rounded choil. Really easy. I used strips of sandpaper in 220, 800, 1000, 3000. Was going to do some wet sanding but it ended up really nice without it so I just stopped there. Plus I don’t want a true mirror polish since the blade is damascus and has that satin look. Completely failed in getting a before shot too lol

Next up...acid etch

Awesome! I have a couple of knives I've been wanting to clean up a bit in the same spots. I'll try what you did. Thanks!
