Black Satin Plating Spoon

This looks really cool. Anyone know if a typical knife can be changed to have this finish (aside from the tips of butter knives)? Or is this built into the steel?

Re: Black Satin Plating Spoon
I would guess you could get some Brownells stuff for stainless. You can't Parkerize stainless steels, but I have seen and owned blackened stainless handguns. Check out some gun shops in your area for it. I've never done it, but had a GP-100 stainless that I had blackened by a smith. Probably about the same process.
If the spoon was carbon steel, Parkerizing is a great choice.

Yeah the spoon looks awesome in person. I ordered 500 of them and should get them in a couple months.

This looks really sweet! A number of years ago Mark had DT damascus plating spoons. It was pricey $$$ but I was lucky to get one.

One in my kit as well. I am probably going to need more plating spoons soon, starting to do more work on food going out at my second job. Learning to sauce plates the past couple weeks - I feel the need for some black satin spoons

Re: Black Satin Plating Spoon
I just got word I will be plating this weekend - moving up in the world. Any chance I can get a few of these soon? I would feel special if I had a half dozen in my kit soon

With the snow globe we're living in right now, not by this weekend!
I'm Dave. I don't take myself too seriously and you probably shouldn't either.
