Well, all I can say is the kanji on mine has little to no feel when you run your finger over it and you can only see it from when looking at it from certain directions. It sure looks like screening to me but if it's laser engraved it's not deep enough to make it through the finish. Maybe laser etched?
If God wanted me to be a vegetarian he wouldn't have made animals taste so good.

On the Makoto R2 gyuto page it says the kanji is laser etched.
If God wanted me to be a vegetarian he wouldn't have made animals taste so good.
