Yahiko Sanjo white 2 nashiji 240 gyuto
Yahiko Sanjo white 2 nashiji 240 gyuto
I'm thinking about sponsoring a passaround of the Yahiko Sanjo white 2 Nashiji 250mm gyuto if anyone is interested.

The hammered version from the same smith was very well regarded when it went on passaround and is currently sold out. This one looks to have a higher grind, nicer handle and more refined appearance. It has me interested. I have found that the Yahiko line of knives represent a lot of bang for the buck and are, at least sometimes, from big name smiths using a house brand and sold at lower prices.
Anyway, I love the heat treat this smith does on white 2 and was thinking about a paid passaround if there is enough interest. I think 8 or 10 participants at $10 each with the knife auctioned at the end, first to participants, sounds good.
If you want in, let me know. Standard rules, 100 post minimum, around 1 week per user, shipped priority insured for $260 with tracking number, etc.

Well, it doesn't look like there is enough interest to start this one. Thanks to those that wanted to participate. Maybe sometime in the future.

Who's the smith, if I may ask? I'm very intrigued by this line.

I'm still down if we can find a couple more participants. We have 5 now if everyone is still in.

I'm still in. I've been visiting the product page frequently and have almost pulled the trigger on the 210 a few times. Looks like a really good knife.

Either way for me, but the 210 caught my eye because it's a little taller than normal (50mm, if memory serves). That, and I have like 5 240s already, but only one undersized 210. The 210 would fill a gap for me.
