I used this a couple times and had plans of doing a custom handle. Selling to fund other wants. Knife is in great shape, never touched the stones and still has a good edge. It’s comes with the Kiri box that’s pictured. The edge is 234mm, the heel is 50mm tall and it weighs 263 grams. Steel is R2, see attached details for more info.

I’m asking 1000.00 shipped priority

One time price drop to 950.00. If it doesn’t pop I’ll have to put it back and pick another one to sell. Getting hard to do that, they are all keepers.

I’m gonna withdraw this. I’m being told that it might be a Kazuyuki, if it checks out I think I’ll keep it.

I’m not sure it is Jeff, trying to figure it out. My luck usually I sell it and then find out something like that. :D

I’m not the guy to explain this simply because I don’t know much about it. Apparently Kazuyuki Tanaka made the original ones, the older ones. Shigeki Tanaka made the later ones. If this isn’t right please feel free to explain this or correct this info as you see fit if your reading this. They look a lot of alike, Kiri box Kanji can help distinguish them but doesn’t always do that. A friend explained to me that after looking at the pics he was pretty sure it’s a Kazuyuki, he just handled some Tanaka ironwoods by both Kazuyuki and Shigeki. Not much help I know but that how I got to where I am now. I’m trying to find out more... apparently those made by Kazuyuki are more of collectors item but they both are held in high esteem.

So is this an older Ironwood you got or one of the new ones that you got from Mark about 2 months ago? Thanks.

I'm rooting for you, I think you have the Kazuyuki. The Shigeki made are said to be as good a quality or better but the Kazuyuki made is much more rare and collectable.

It’s an older one. A friend bought it while in Japan.

I met Rick Theory at an ECG a few years ago, he knew the ins and outs of the Tanaka brand and if I recall had open communication with them. He might be able to give you a definitive answer. I don't know his contact but his IG is: ricktarregrossa

As a side note, I have one with no Kanji. I have been told the no Kanji ones are done by Shigeki Tanaka.

Either way, if you do decide to sell, it is a phenomenal knife.

Thanks for the patience.

GLWS Sean.
I absolutely love my Tanakas.
They are all becoming quite rare now. Even the Shigekis are hard to find as he has run low on materials.
Your sale might go better if you give it a title like WTS 😜
Stay safe and well buddy.

It looks like it states WTS in the title. Stay safe Ray, we pulled our people out of all the islands a couple weeks ago and hope to return the first week of May. Kind of crazy.

Good luck with the first week of May unless you mean 2021 😷

The Kazuyuki and Shigeki kinda muddy the waters. Dropping to 900.00, muddy water discount. 🤩
