Tanaka Sekiso B#2 Damascus 240mm Gyuto
Re: Tanaka Sekiso B#2 Damascus 240mm Gyuto
Can't believe this knife is still here. I keep trying and buying knife after knife, but I always return to my Sekiso. The one knife I trust to handle everything.

I agree (although I've never used one, I've seen so many positive reviews by people I really trust...). This one is just too big for me, but it is exactly the size a lot of other people look for. And a great handle pairing.

Just curious about the requested choil gap. Does this serve a functional purpose or is mostly about aesthetics?

Thanks for the kind words, guys! I, too, am quite surprised its still here.
Gastro, nothing complicated, the choil gap just feels right for my hand. I can't stand it when the gap is either huge or the handle is jammed up against the blade. I find that 14/15mm is that goldilocks point for me.gastro gnome wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:35 am Just curious about the requested choil gap. Personal preference. The exposed machi is not indicative of shoddy install. It's supposed to be that way. I like a decent gap sp I can get my middle finger in there comfortably. 15mm or so.gastro gnome wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:35 am Just curious about the requested choil gap. I happen to be a happy owner of one of these, and I gotta say - it's all that.
And with the gorgeous blue handle, hand made by a local artist - the value is undoubtedly higher than the K&S equivalent.

This such a surprise that its still here. One of the best bang for the buck knives out there IMO. I'd buy it if I didn't already have one (and bought a 210 for a friend)!

This is as close to perfect as I have found in a knife for me. Love the all-round profile. I'd put Tanaka, Kanehiro and Kamo in a similar grouping. My Yoshimune is another do-it-all knife with the best tip of the bunch, but it is distinctly different in form and function.
Tanakas really should get more love.
