Forgecraft remake catch and release
Forgecraft remake catch and release
Got this one almost a week ago along with a KS and between the two the KS is staying.
Was super excited to play with this and it's an awesome knife....if I didn't already own a KS with a second coming in.....
My new year's resolution was not to collect to many of one style a knives and two 240mm gyutos are the limit!
So it's gotta go before I change my mind.
It's a great knives and ghost though product.
After tracing an outline of my KS it's an almost perfect match.
Got my weight behind it though.
One side was thinned smoothing out the shoulder so I evened it out gently and carefully then polished it up some and resharpened it.
I left the newly started pantina on it but if you want I can polish it a little bit more and get you a shiny.
250mm on edge, 49.96 at the heel, 212 grams, 3.4mm thick at the heel, 2.9mm thick halfway and 1.2 one inch from the tip.
White #2 and reactive clad. It takes on an awesome pantina, my pictures won't do it justice.
Comes with a cool wood box, a red cloth, a leather sheath and these were produced in a limited amount.
Since I don't have a frame of reference for price except for the trade I did I'll let it go for what I wanted on the I trade it for. $240. Plus shipping and fees please.
If you gave questions about it or need more pictures let me know, thanks everyone.

These are white #2 steel at the core and were rumored to have been made by Kagekiyo.

Not much info on them around. Limited numbered run.crockerculinary wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2018 1:53 pm wow, never seen these. can anybody fill in the history on these knives?
By the guys who bought up the brand name.
There's a website with no info and I've only ever found one other one that was for sale on another forum.
If you hunt around there very basic information about them.
There was the forgecraft craziness were a bunch of people were buying them up and fixing them up and refurbishing them......
And I see why.
It's awesome that someone even in a small amount offered a updated copy of a classic.
It has a very strong resemblance to a Kagekiyo, but different profile.
I guess they used a custom profile that matched the best 1950s Forgecraft they could find.
it's really cool and preforming great on product....
Tip is super thin, food release is great right now where it's at.
It's in good condition aside from the normal use and scuffs from sharpening, but I almost never worry about that much. These are tools first and foremost and this is a killer in a kitchen.
I'm sure I'll have my regrets because I always do...
If only I could keep them all! Lol.
In a way I won't be too sad if it stays around for a while.
I thought about sending it out to have it polished and fully tuned up because I'd be worth it, especially if I get the same guy who did the work on my T.F.
And it it stays that's exactly what I will do.
But then again, I'm really trying not to collect a bunch of knives again....well more than the ones I have.
If I didn't have a old grind KS and brand new KS coming.... It would totally fit in perfect.
But I don't need 3 knifes with the exact same profile.
If.....if..... I get another 240mm then it's gonna be something different.
Hopefully gonna use this cash towards a nice 270mm I've been eyeing because I need a new one in my work kit.

Yes!
I liked my other one so much and it was a shame that it was posted and needed a home....lol.
I planned on comparing the two and then posting it under the KS first impressions so there was a good reference on here.
Re: Forgecraft remake catch and release
I believe there were only 20 prototypes made and then bupkiss since... You could consider it a collector's item. GLWS
