A few knives for sale!!

Post by arthurfowler »

Dear all

After having a review of my knives, I am letting a few go to make room for a few more.

First up

Masakage Koishi 240mm Gyuto
Length - 243mm
Height at heel - 51mm
Weight - 190g

Home use only and probably hasn't been used for more than an hour in total. Never had a full progression sharpening, only touch ups and stropping. Knife is in excellent condition. I am asking for $175 plus $30 shipping to the US. European buyers 20$ for shipping.

Next up

Hinoura Tamashii White 2 270mm Sujihiki
Length - 263mm
Height at heel - 35mm
Weight - 135g
Handle - Yew/Buffalo Horn

Home use only and probably hasn't been used for more than 20 minutes in total. Never had a full progression sharpening, only touch ups and stropping. Knife is in excellent condition. I am asking for $225 plus $30 shipping to the US. European buyers 20$ for shipping.

Next Up

Kikuichi Swedish Warikome 240mm Gyuto
Length - 246mm
Height at heel - 51mm
Weight - 141g
Handle - Rosewood/Pakka Wood

Home use only and probably hasn't been used for more than 15 minutes in total. Never had a full progression sharpening, only touch ups and stropping. Knife is in excellent condition. I am asking for $200 plus $30 shipping to the US. European buyers 20$ for shipping.

Next up

Kurodori Ginsan 210mm Gyuto
Length - 218mm
Height at heel - 50mm
Weight - 216g
Handle - Isaiah Schroeder Maple/Wenge

Home use only and probably hasn't been used for more than a couple of hours in total. Basic sharpening a couple of times when I first started sharpening. Knife is in good condition with only a few surface marks. This knife is no longer available on CKTG. I paid $290 ex shipping and import costs. I am asking for $160 plus $30 shipping to the US. European buyers 20$ for shipping.

Added bonus

The following knives can be added if you buy one of the above knives. They won't be sold separately.

Mizuno Tanrenjo Akitada Hontanren 150mm Petty Blue 2
Length - 143mm
Height at heel - 30mm
Weight - 66g
Handle - Ho wood/Marbled Buffalo Horn

This knife ended up as a project knife. It has been lightly thinned and the whole blade briefly finished with a couple of sandpaper professions. By no means a professional finish but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the knife. I am asking for $50 if bought in conjunction with any of the above knives. Saya included.

Asai Tojinbo Damascus AS Kurouchi 75mm Paring Knife
Length - 75mm
Height at heel - 25mm
Weight - 56g
Handle - Macassar Ebony/Pakka Wood

This knife ended up as another project knife. My early sharpening practice removed some of the curve on the blade profile so I reshaped it on an Atoma 140 and then it was lightly thinned with a Nubatama 150 and sharpened. I am asking for $40 if bought in conjunction with any of the above knives.

Thanks for looking.

Best

Wow. I have used that Kikuichi. The first price was good, but this price is insane.

Thanks Lepus

I don't sell many knives as I normally buy to keep. However I have just had a review and wanted to let some go to make room for others as I am probably near to the maximum numbers that I would like. My original pricing thought was to give them all an attractive price that would ultimately sell the knives but more and more there is an element for me in giving something back to this forum that has been so helpful to me. I suppose the only exception to this was my recently sold Kato where I asked for what I had paid a few months earlier albeit I didn't try to recover the shipping cost and import tax which was north of $200.

However when all is said and done, market conditions and value to an individual buyer do generally prevail.
