Masakage Shimo Gyuto 240mm - SOLD!
Masakage Shimo Gyuto 240mm - SOLD!
For sale:
Masakage shimo 240mm gyuto used but
Fully sharpened and ready to rock and roll.
I fell hard walking home from the store this week and broke my wrist and I'm selling it to try to recover the cost of my x-rays and medical stuff. I of course don't have insurance so all of it was paid for with my knife fund for the upcoming knives I wanted to try out next.
(capitate wrist fracture incase you are wondering)
I won't be able to really use a knife for at least a couple of weeks.
I got this to try out another style Masakage and it lives up to the reputation.
I planned on re-etching it but it's not gonna happen because of my accident.
Pretty easy to get done though. Beautiful custom handle by Dpham:
Chechen burl , Caribbean rosewood, Blue resin spacer & black G10 liner
I do not have the original box. But I will pack it up so well you probably won't miss it anyways.
These are okay photos taken indoors tonight under a fluorescent desk light, I'll post some pictures in the daylight also.
I made sure this was tuned and tweaked pretty good because I planned on playing with it for a bit before even thinking about posting and I had big plans to polish it more and get that etching to really pop...But life happens.
Work is gonna be pretty interesting without the ability to really hold a knife much
I'm so mad and it's not even a cool story!!
I had $280 in it.
Add shipping cost $12? (us only).
So considering that, I'm open to offers that are reasonable understanding that this is used and new they run $232 without a cool handle.
No trades at this time just because I couldn't even use a knife anyways.
It's a good knife and I think if someone is looking for a solid W#2 by a great maker....this is a good one.

Re: WTS Masakage Shimo Gyuto 240mm
Daylight picture as best I can get:
I always have fun with white steels, they are allot of fun to sharpen and see how high an edge you can get!
You can kind of see the layers starting to pop from the onions and stuff I used it on. I always have fun with white steels, they are allot of fun to sharpen and see how high an edge you can get!

Good luck on the recovery, man. Sorry to hear that, and that you have to sell knives to help.

I'll shoot you a PM.CacahuateSommelier wrote: ↑Wed Jul 11, 2018 11:12 am What is your asking $$$.... for this and the watanabe?
Re: WTS Masakage Shimo Gyuto 240mm
I was planning on adjusting the price here to get an exact number because I figured that as posted I'd probably not get to many hits, shipped us and everything I'd do $240.
I figure that's fair considering the handle is cool but the knife is used and in good shape.
Any other questions please feel free to shoot me a message!

Re: WTS Masakage Shimo Gyuto 240mm
It's posted. Originally I hoped to sell it for my cost plus shipping. But my last update is probably more realistic in terms of moving it along.CacahuateSommelier wrote: ↑Wed Jul 11, 2018 11:20 amJust saw your update for the watanabe..... still curious about what he shimodAviD wrote: ↑Wed Jul 11, 2018 11:14 amI'll shoot you a PM.CacahuateSommelier wrote: ↑Wed Jul 11, 2018 11:12 am What is your asking $$$.... for this and the watanabe?

Hope your recovery goes well. The Shimo is an excellent knife, would liked to have seen you get more for it!
