Steve’s pif buffalo horn freebie thread encouraged me to start thinking about replacing my most hated handles with something more fun. Steve (pd7077) helped talk Sean into making a couple of handles for me after a bit of trading and dealing. Sean and his son are just getting into this but I’m beyond impressed with what I’ve seen so far and the whole process has been a ton of fun. Here’s my Anryu B2 240 with a new koa/blackwood handle with faux ivory spacer made by Sean (nakneker). I just about sold this knife a while back but it’s a keeper now. Thanks Sean!

That looks fantastic, Jon!!! For supposedly being a rookie, Sean is cranking out some top notch handles. I’m on his waiting list, and the only problem is that I don’t have any knives to send him yet 😡

Very nice Sean, looks amazing!!! I only have 1 custom handle albeit another on the way but this design is one of my favourites with the burl type wood with a white spacer and a dark wood ferrule. Well done.

Just something I threw together for my 150mm tojiro nakiri. Black walnut and maple. After 6 handles I think I know how I'm going to be making them from now on.

Here’s another one from Sean and his son. I really like the slimmer feel of the newer ebony Konosuke handles and my Mazaki 270 came with a pretty chunky stock handle. I asked Sean to capture a bit of the Konosuke handle feel on this one and it came out perfect. The handle is African Blackwood with a brass spacer and easily the nicest piece of streaky buffalo horn I’ve seen for the ferrule. These guys are really making some impressive stuff!!

My very first custom handle,

A custom work of love by Randy Rose (matchplay18), done with Indian Rosewood, an mystifying acrylic spacer with silver lines that keep appearing and disappearing as it catches, the light in the most attractive ways, and three thin spacers of a wood I can't recall at the moment

This was also my very first handle install, and... with the help of the forum (special thanks to Bensbites) it was a snap :ugeek:

Haha :)
What can I say?
If I had more knives, maybe I'd have had more handles installed by now :P

Have a couple CCK cleavers, functional for sure but plain as plain. I thought I’d try and make a handle out of ironwood on the lathe, this is my first time on a lathe but my son helped tell me what to do, he made pens to help put him through college. So I gave it a try and this what happened, simple as simple gets. I ended putting a mosiac pin in the end of the handle just to give it some character. Gonna make another one for my other CCK, gonna try something a little different though.

Geez Sean!!! First time on a lathe, and that’s what the result is?!? That mosaic pin was a nice touch. Would the proper term for that be a “butt plug”?!? Butt in all seriousness, that pretty impressive work man 👍🏻
