thanks for all the replies, after thinking about it overnight, i decided to hold on to the knife and put it to use today at work. some patina will make any sharpening marks way less noticeable.

got the beginnings of good patina yesterday. the contrast between the frosted and polished should make it interesting. its a fantastic grind, very happy i ended up sticking with it. the initial disappointment of seeing blemishes on a new knife and the first release of a new line subsided and happy to enjoy the new knife with a nice discount.

i sliced a bunch of tomatoes, fruit and other veg at work yesterday. then last night i prepped a bunch of onions then sliced hot pork tenderloin and let it sit for about 10 mins before wiping. semi forced patina.

Mine has a similar issue, a FT W2 from Bernal, scratches towards the tip.
Nothing serious about it, but unexpected from a konosuke.
P. S. I will keep mine too.

have you used yours yet? curious what you think...once i cut with it, it was hard to really remember what I was complaining about lol. It has a sublime nimble feel. i'm curious to see how the edge holds up on the w#2 blade.
