I'm going to fix all these pictures on this thread. He just asked me what method he should ship with so we're close.

Steve G needs to do review on it. Play it completely straight. Profile on the board and everything.

He just sent me a customer knife.....took less than a week from the time I gave him the shipping info until it was delivered.
Re: Yukawa's first sword as a registered swordmaker
I've been wondering what a new sword goes for these days?

Right now he is quoting one year, plus or minus, for a kitchen knife.

Re: Yukawa's first sword as a registered swordmaker
I think Yukawa is charging a million Yen. His old boss was charging triple that but he is at the pinnacle of his career and craft.
He's fluent in English so it's pretty easy to speak with him. His email is sensedged@gmail.com
PS I am not getting commision on his swords. He offered but I told him I didn't want to broker them. They take a long time to commision and as you guys know, I try not to sell things I don't have. Also, he's early in his career and has a young family to support so he needs the full price he charges to keep his shop viable.
Re: Yukawa's first sword as a registered swordmaker
I ordered a knife from him last month and asked about sword prices after looking at the emails on Mark's sword and his response was:
"The general price for an art-sword, including all fees and payments to the other craftsmen involved for polish, shira-saya and habaki;
Tanto 500,000JPY. Wakizashi 700,000JPY. Katana 1,000,000JPY.
More or less, depending on model, length, steel, and polish."

10K for a full size katana isn't bad at all! Shirasaya $(300-$700)and Habaki ($300 on up, depending on materials, complexity, etc) can run $600-$1000 for basic work, polishing can run around $2-3K for a katana length blade, so that's incredibly reasonable!
I have seen other sites off $12K-13K for a new sword in newly made Koshirae, Koshirae often run around 2-3K or more with all fittings for a new set. Antique fittings may really bump the prices up; menuki can be over $1000, Tsuba can be well over $1000 alone, too.

Not even in the same league here but I quenched my first wakizashi a while back.
Ping!
Sad face.
