They look a little 'rustic'

I'm surprised so many people put down #1 even though it has a cheap plastic ferrule and a massive step from the ferrule to the handle.
I thought it was horn. It's hard to tell what it is from the photo. It's also a sample so that doesn't mean the production handles will be constructed that way. *SHRUG*

My consideration was the combo of the KU finish and light handle. I really like the contrast. It looks similar to Bacote, which I absolutely love with a KU blade.

I think 5 is a good starting point. I like 5,8 and 4 in that order

5, 1 and 8. I think 5 and 8 would be better if the lighter woods in both combinations were darker.

Edit: on my phone and I can't tell if any of the ferrels are plastic. I think 1 is? I think most of us avoid plastic ferrules

1, 5, 6 and 8. Really anything wood with a horn handle. Nice to have some choices in wood color and density and horn color.
