Baking Much?
Seems like there are a lot of new bread bakers out in the world if our bread knife sales are any indication.
So come on and show us what you've got in the oven? I noticed Ray has been doing some serious loaves lately.

Woah!
Wife is the baker in this household, but looking at what the Masters has pulled out of his oven... well... judging from the little I know of the man, I trust it's as tasty as it's pretty. You set the bar high, Mark, but photos will come soon!

"Set the bar high" is an understatement! Ray's bread looks amazing.
Best I can do at the moment is to post a banana bread I made recently (the cliche "bread" these days, I know). I followed a New York Times recipe that is actually very good.

I haven't started baking bread yet but, cinnamon rolls are pretty easy. On another note my local grocery store is always low on sugar, flour and other baking goods.

I am so much less active I am trying to avoid sweets. I have been baking fair bit of bread, while my sourdough and challah taste great, rays loaves look stunning.
for the 4th I made brownies, Caramel sauce, and cookies & cream ice cream, all from scratch.

Re: Baking Much?
I baked a couple quick and easy, task-specific breads (Cuban loaves, Muffaletta loaves) back when it was a bit cooler out. Lately, it's been cookies, which I hadn't baked in over a decade before corona came to town. Now, I've probably baked a dozen batches since mid-March, and have more or less dialed in a recipe I like . . .

I have just started baking and am having a blast.
Those are the third or fourth try at sourdough loaves. I think i might be on to something!
I am having way too much fun doing this....I'd better be watching the waistline or swimming an extra mile in the morning!

I hear you about the exercise - I rediscovered my stationary bike every day now. Golf may not be a lot of exercise but i sure do miss getting out 3 - 4 times a week.

Re: Baking Much?
You can see it in the second shot. Its made by St Germain Bakery.
It was a bit pricey to be honest but......
You can find simple lames for way less...or better still make your own.
There is a guy on IG that makes some really sweet ones but they are a bit expensive. $75 each I think. Wonderful woodwork though.
I cannot get any knife to do the cuts without destroying the dough.

Ok more than a bit... let’s just say it’s probably best I can barely manage to figure out how to upload photos.

Re: Baking Much?
Being on Keto, breads are a no no! But I have done Keto cheesecakes in my Instant Pot and some Keto cookies with almond flour and erythritol instead of regular sugar. I do miss good bread though Sometimes I sneak a piece or two. I have tried Keto bread recipes, but they aren't the same.

Re: Baking Much?
There is some lovely baking here, well done everyone. I finally got my sourdough starter going. Still very early on but I have been pleased with the results so far. I bake bread 2 or 3 times a week for us and other family and friends. Then twice a week, I make waffles and pancakes for my two sons from the discard and have zero waste.
I have also started making sourdough pizza dough as well.

That is some tasty looking baking mate! Wow you are on a roll.arthurfowler wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 3:02 pm There is some lovely baking here, well done everyone. I have not thrown any starter either.
Pancakes, Muffins and bagels take care of the overs.
I'm working on some bagels right now and have another levain on the go for a bake tomorrow.
Like you I'm going to start feeding friends and neighbors. i just want to bake!!!!
Got to try pizza and waffles next.
What waffle iron do you use?
