Re: Konosuke Updates
I'm glad I was in meetings all day yesterday - if I'd have bought one I would be in big trouble. This year is my CHII year, but I'll get another kono before too long

Re: Konosuke Updates
So whats the difference between the plain jane Fuji and the new FT? Is it primarily the HD2-like grind?
Re: Konosuke Updates
I think I am going to have to take a vacation day next time konos fujis come up for sale....lol enjoy the blades ....I will keep trying
Re: Konosuke Updates
Thank you for the comment!
We're very happy to hear that.
As far as talking about FT Blue #2, we could provide only 10 blades so far.
(I'm so sorry about the very late reply..)

Re: Konosuke Updates
Are there going to be more 210mm Fuji FM Blue #2 Gyutos engraved by your father?
If God wanted me to be a vegetarian he wouldn't have made animals taste so good.
Re: Konosuke Updates
You mean HRC, right?Corradobrit wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 3:59 pm Does anyone know the HT value for the current W#1 core steel? Kosuke?
The blacksmith says W#1 (and B#1) should be about 65.
He also said B#2 (and W#2) should be about 64.
I'm so sorry about the very late answer..
Re: Konosuke Updates
Thank you for mentioning!Omega wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 4:32 pm As I stated a few posts back- Konosuke IS intending to continue production on the FT Fujiyama
As far as HRC- they are often listed as 61-63, but... Tanaka tends to actually be a bit harder. He’s just such a freak talent, they don’t feel chippy like many would expect at higher HRCs
The hardness can be changed depend on the blade, the part of the blade, and the season of the quenching.

That's right.Corradobrit wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 10:53 pm So whats the difference between the plain jane Fuji and the new FT? Is it primarily the HD2-like grind?
HD2-like ground and special finish as you can see.
(forged by the same blacksmith)
I'm sorry let you wait for the answer..

Re: Konosuke Updates
VERY impressive. Does the blacksmith use prelaminated bar stock or does he laminate himself in the forge?Kosuke wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 1:49 amYou mean HRC, right?Corradobrit wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 3:59 pm Does anyone know the HT value for the current W#1 core steel? Kosuke?

Looking forward to picking up my 240 W#1 this evening.
Re: Konosuke Updates
They used to laminate all by themselves but it seems they're using more prelaminated ones recently.Corradobrit wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 9:40 am

Re: Konosuke Updates
Me too. Less and less of our knives are hand engraved. Whenever I can ask for hand engraving I try and get them that way. Lasers and stamps are boring!slobound wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 9:23 amGreat choice, Mark! I love the hand engraving.ChefKnivesToGo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 6:38 amHi Jeff,
