Pants?
I've been helping Miller out opening a new gig, strangely enough, three different grown men and one woman have asked me about my pants. Up until yesterday they've never been attention grabbing.
In the spirit of the great shoe thread, along with the multiple towel, jacket, and everything else threads, I thought why not a chef pants thread.
I've tried multiple different ones ranging from cheap as dirt to... still kinda cheap... ever since finding the happy chef mesh cook cool pants they've been all I buy. Extremely breathable and pretty good in the mess proof department, they've held up more or less well (6 pairs in two years, one split crotch and one weird pocket from edc carry) and don't get ruined as fast as anything houndstooth. Highly recommended.

So I guess my final question is... so what're you wearing.

Re: Pants?
Yeah, as a home cook I think buying cooking pants might be going a bit too far... They look comfy, though.

Re: Pants?
Those look pretty good.
Here's what I'm wearing when it's hot and humid..
They won't protect much against spilling something hot but as a pastry chef that's generally not too big of an issue for me.
I buy the pants a size too short and wear short ankle socks. Combined with the thinness of the pant material it feels almost like wearing shorts. Looks fine when I'm walking around but if I sit down they pull up and probably look like forest gump's pants.

Must be the mesh vents behind the knees that are the attention grabbers.

They also have a flap thing in the front.
I'm rocking dockers... I need a belt on my pants

Re: Pants?
I think I first saw vented pants probably 8 years ago, I figured they'd be as eye catching as a camera on a flip phone. I've seen ones that look like NASA and jnco collaborated to make gang pants for the mean streets of Mars, these still look like pants to me at least.

Re: Pants?
I tried UA golf pants. The whole pants are vented, from cuff to crotch. When you're outside you can really feel the breeze. But in the kitchen I find these "vents" do little good.
UA vented pants are rather pricey, more than I want to pay for chef pants. That said, I started buying light weight golf pants at target. Super affordable, non baggy and plenty of stretch. That's another thing about common chef pants - just too baggy, traps in heat!

Re: Pants?
Yeah I'm not a fan of super baggy, it seems like they get wet more easily and stay wet forever. I also can't stand anything with a drawstring. Wash them with them untied and the string comes out, or wash them tied and you can never untie them, leaving you with too loose of pants with no belt loop.
Re: Pants?
Haha! I all but forgot about those annoyances. However I sure don't miss them.
I much prefer belt method, and I use one of those vinyl adjustable ones from REI. The ones that don't need to be removed when going through airport security. They're great to have around
