Re: Takamura Chromax 210mm Gyuto?
I think lasers 210’s benefit from a little mass in the handle, or a little more spine to it. I love my Kuro as laser, but think if it were a Kono laser in wa, it would feel too light. I still think that laser wa 240’s can feel oddly light, though after using several it feels more normal. Personal preference of course. That aside, this knife is one I’m holding out for. I got really excited about the Kono 210 that just landed, but a takamura with hammering and kanji for 125$....I’ll hold out for this one. Even with a sort of odd colored handle. I think it will find a good place in my usage.

I’ll be having one sent my way, too good of a deal to pass on.

Once I start western rehandles, I will add this to my list.

Update the product page already!
I’m positive I will be buying one of these. Of course I’m a nerd and have to see actual photos and specs first

So, is the picture on the page correct, or is that just the photo of the santoku?

It’s a photo of the santoku. The gyuto will probably look like the Migaki R2, at least it is my assumption. If not I may return it. Mark bought 500 so they probably won’t sell out soon if you prefer waiting for the real photo.

Since you’re the first purchaser, you’ll have to take pics and specs for the rest of us

I wonder if Mark receives all 500 in one shot or if they break up the distribution over a period of time. That's a lot of inventory to sit on.

He gets them in batches and he may have a long period of time to get them in. He's talked about this before with other commitments.sharksfan7 wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 11:16 pmI wonder if Mark receives all 500 in one shot or if they break up the distribution over a period of time. They are in and I just got me one. I love the Santoku and now I am going to love this gyuto! It is sturdy and a laser! Two words you usually don't mix together.

Any quick feedback on geometry, balance point, fit & finish?ButlerHoosierChef wrote: ↑Tue May 15, 2018 9:46 am They are in and I just got me one. I love the Santoku and now I am going to love this gyuto! It is sturdy and a laser! Two words you usually don't mix together.

I just ordered it today but I will give feedback as soon as I can. If it is anything like the Santoku it is a steal!

They look great. Is this the new go-to gift? Definitely want one, but can't bring myself to shell out the cash (that I don't have). ;o)
However, if I didn't have my Masamoto VG as a beater, this one would be it. Helluva deal it seems.
