Skinny Customs
Kosuke started doing these really nice ebony handles that are very thin and I gotta say I love the way they make the knife feel. I'm sure some will hate them but others will dig them. You'll start to see some appear on the site soon. I hope you like them. We'll still do the chunky ones but it will be a nice alternative for the laser type knives especially.

Hey Mark. I picked up an HD2 last month with - I think it was spelled - Khii ebony. Are these the same handles?

Re: Skinny Customs
I don't like chunky handles on my knives. Skinny handles and I like them undersized in length too. A good short handle on a 210 is more comfy for me. They way I pinch grip the blade a longer handle digs into the side of my arm and I don't find that comfortable at all. Only my ring finger and pink are around the handle anyway.

Mark.....Are these like the Khii Studio ebony that you put on my Kato? If so...love them. First time I got it I was surprised by its dimensions. When I used it the surprise turned to smiles. Wonderful feel and F&F as good as it gets.

I like the idea of a more narrow ferrule, but I also like some butt. Those handles he did on the NT were spot on and fit the knife very well. Its all about the taper and balance.

Re: Skinny Customs
I like the openness in this thred! I think every knife/user has an ideal handle pair, and it isn't always skinny or fat or long or short. But it is nice to see openness to trying the longer, thinner design for lasers in particular. Some of my favorite handles have been the longer, thinner konosuke designs for lasers, and my opinion on this is only increased after using a few other knives with shorter, denser handles.
I do think that lighter knives generally achieve better balance when paired with a lighter and longer handle. As I've mentioned elsewhere, this relates to general balance principles, not unlike what people use to rope walk. It makes sense that dealing with a light blade, it would pair well with a lighter and longer handle that parallels the length and balance of the knife itself. This combination provides a sense of balance and neutrality without sacrificing a sense of control that extends further toward the tip of the knife, even when it is light.
