Love that!
Those Kurosaki Hammered R2s are some cutting machines too! The best I've tried so far to compete with a Shibata R2.

Let us know how it performs once it is settled into the rotation.

Very nice! May I ask how tall it is at the heel?

Does anyone have any tested opinion on the performance of the Kurosaki R2 hammered vs shizuku gyutos?

Not that exotic or rare of a blade, but just got my Takeda 270 classic back from Alton, The Culinary Craftsman. Saya is held in place magnetically. Very pleased with what he was able to do.

Thanks! This is probably as expensive a blade I will get, so figured I'd go for it.

Always wondered about a magnet in the saya, is the magnet in the tip or on the spine?

Ya, I was wondering as well. After playing around with the blade, I can feel that the magnet is on the spine, maybe a centimeter in from the opening. Doesn't hold the saya in place as well as a pin, but I don't plan on walking around while only holding the saya.

Well, here we go again:
Kramer Damascus 10", R2.
It's tall, long, very hefty and very very sharp ... I feel like I need to go cook 100lb of potatoes now.
The handle is odd at first, but it grows on you. I still prefer Meiji tapering handle though.
