Stunning Sean. I loved the look of the pass around knife. Definitely one to add to the wish list!!!nakneker wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 7:17 pm There is a Black Lotus Knife currently on Passaround. I liked the knife so much I ordered my own. Mine is 259 x 53. Jeff Steele is the talent behind Black Lotus, he’s such a pleasure to work with and isn’t scared to try anything you can dream up. This particular knife is thinner than the Passaround blade, not a laser either. It’s fun on the board, nice big flat spot that is very usable with a great tip, onions were not a problem, Neither were root vegetables for that matter. The handle is tazmanian black wood, the ferrule G10 with a nickel liner.
It has a 52100 core with 1080 and 15n20 cladding. That’s his twisted Damascus pattern.

Re: Show us your new knife!
Thanks guys. Jeff is making some great knives. This knife is a much different grind then the passaround… I like them both! What I like about Jeff is how easy he is to work with, He is happy to try just about idea you can dream up. I'm wanting a Black Lotus cleaver and he may do it!

So how soon after (or before) handling the passaround knife did you comission this one? (it's gorgeous, blade and handle!)nakneker wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 1:37 pm Thanks guys. Re: Show us your new knife!
When Steve first showed us the Passaround knife I liked it enough that I checked out Jeff's IG. He had a gyuto on his instagram that I liked so I sent him a message and he told me he could make something very similiar. So thats what I did, described what I wanted and Jeff added some input. The knife you see is what we came up with. The whole process took about sixty days. Very easy guy to work with who really enjoys his craft!Altadan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 4:50 pmSo how soon after (or before) handling the passaround knife did you comission this one? Re: Show us your new knife!
Really nice!! I haven’t got a cleaver but there appears to be a lot of love for them. My only experience was 25 years ago with a very cheap cleaver from a Chinese supermarket.

Re: Show us your new knife!
it's pretty impressive - gave it a full sharpening last night and it's as sharp as any of my best knives - these are supposed to have superb edge retention too.
Re: Show us your new knife!
Dang that looks sexy! Where and how did/do you get one?

Re: Show us your new knife!
it cuts great - prepped for some vege fried rice tonight and length wise medium sized carrots smooth silent sailing.
Re: Show us your new knife!
The grind kinda reminds me of my Fujiyama. I'm going to have to look at again to compare.

Re: Show us your new knife!
possible, I've created this one as a mini version of my mizuno which is a very thin sample that looks somewhat like the konosuke cleavers recently. The mizuno is 225x108 while this one is 200x95
Re: Show us your new knife!
I'd like to get a one maybe around 200 x 89 ish.

Re: Show us your new knife!
That looks like it has a magnificent right-hand bias that should really help with precision performance. Am I crazy or is that the case? And was it requested?

Re: Show us your new knife!
didn't specifically request it but did mention that I'm right handed - it does cut really well and I don't notice any steering either when doing full length wise cuts for carrots (top down) - definitely liking the grind right now and still getting to know it on the stones so to say, the steel is quite diff compared to carbons.

Re: Show us your new knife!
a size like this one is good to start - just big enough and not too daunting.
