Konosuke Fujiyama Blue #2 Gyutos at the Show
If I can pull this off would you guys be interested in a show sale on Fujiyama Blue #2 Gyutos 240mm? I might be able to pull it off and get 10 or so made specifically for the Chicago show. I could offer 20% off regular price to entice some of you to show up.

I couldn't fly there for a Fujiyama, but I may do it to meet Kosuke and his team along with yourself and Sue.
If we were talking Blue #2 Honyaki gyutos...
Are these Blue #2 Fujiyama gyutos the same as the old ones?

Too far for me and not enough time but I am sure you could entice 10 people easily.

Yes except I'm going to ask Kosuke if his father will hand engrave them for this special run.

Awesome move Mark! Do you have final dates and attendees in place yet or are you still planning? (Sorry, I've been busy lately and haven't kept up)
I'm Dave. I don't take myself too seriously and you probably shouldn't either.

Re: Konosuke Fujiyama Blue #2 Gyutos at the Show
Sunday, September 16. Here is the post by Mark from another thread:
“Yoshimi Kato. Hiroshi Kato’s son. He and Shiba and Kurosaki are all good friends.
It would complicate things to bring in other guys. I have to drive them to Madison and then take them to some events and if there are 3 guys I can take them all in my car. More guys and we need multiple cars. Also there are competitive issues if I bring multiple competing distributors. I’ve tried on multiple occasions to do this in Japan and it’s usually awkward.
We have several guys coming this year to visit. Kosuke, Tsukahara and his son, the head of Shapton, and Shigeki Tanaka even mentioned he wants to come visit but all of these guys I’m planning on scheduling separately. I want to be a good host and the larger the group, the harder it is to be a good tour guide.
Sunday the 16th for a late lunch at Roku Akor in downtown Chicago is what I’m aiming for with this meet and greet. I spoke to Jesse and then to the event coordinator and we can rent a private room and they will provide us with a light lunch and give us a bartender. Sue and I will be happy to pay for everying if you can make it.”
This event is fairly close to me so I’m extra bummed that I can’t make it!

I will definitely be there, already making plans, told the wife about it and will definitely buy one of those Fujis if I get the chance! I'll prepay just to reserve one!

You are correct. I should have double check. Mark did just post an update:gastro gnome wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 1:49 pm September 17 is a Monday so I believe it is Sunday, September 16.
“The date for the party is Sunday, September 16th from 1-4pm at Roka Akor in Chicago.
And yes the guys from Japan will be coming on the 15th to Chicago and they will be leaving on the 19th from Madison.”

Wowza. Sounds awesome. It is hard to imagine NOT being interested...!!
You know what might be extra-cool, Mark? You could have some without handles and then do a few installs at your shop while we're there! I'm sure some people would prefer a stock handle, but reserving 2-3 of ten seems like a doable and fun exercise. Heck, maybe one of the visitors would care to do one!

Comments: I'm short, a home cook, prefer lighter, thinner blades, and own mostly Konosukes but have used over a dozen brands.

I have to deliver on this promise so let me see what I can do. I know the blades are forged since I looked at them when I was in Sakai. I just need to get them sharpened and engraved and handled.

I was coming before the announcement of the bait! What a thoughtful gesture...
