Repair Work
I got these in the mail today. Be gentle....
I'll start working on them this afternoon. I need to ask him if he wants me to clean up the blades before I start removing the chips.

Aye!
That's a nice collection there. Gotta wonder what brought these knives so low
Question: can the KU finish be preserved in such a state?

Re: Repair Work
I think it's possible but I don't know how to do it.
I should ask Steve Grosvenor how he does that packerizing finish on his blades.
Re: Repair Work
I'll answer for him Mark, yes he wants you to clean them up.ChefKnivesToGo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 9:31 am I got these in the mail today. Be gentle....

Re: Repair Work
Those look like they've seen better days. Ouch! I'm sure you'll get them all beautiful and sharp again in short order.

Looks like a nice Anryu Dammy, all bright and shiny. Looks good in that variant

What do you mean these aren't dishwasher safe?....
If God wanted me to be a vegetarian he wouldn't have made animals taste so good.

Re: Repair Work
I used a scotchbrite disc on my bench grinder. After I cleaned it up I took out the chip, thinned it and sharpened it back up. The clean up took about 5 minutes per knife. The thinning took the longest amount of time at about 15 minutes on my Hoyo machine. Finished it on Shapton glass stones by hand up to 6K and then I stopped it. It shaved nicely when it was done.gladius wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 4:24 pm Mark, how did you do it?
Did you use any of the rust removers you sell <<?
Fortunately it was a beautiful, sunny summer day so I dragged my grinder outside and did the work in the sunshine and fresh air.
I love doing this kind of work. It’s so satisfying to bring a knife back to life.

Hahahahah my mind went to that Seinfeld episode where Pudy stole Jerry’s car because he wasn’t taking care of it properly.Kalaeb wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 5:20 pmYour giving them back? What is a Hoyo machine?

What's so great about it? It was a show about nothing
