Interested in getting a ceramic rod to help keep my knife block knives sharp between water stones. These are mostly German knives that I let anybody use. My good JP knives stay in a separate area and nobody but me uses them ( yes selfish, my family has a GREAT ability to abuse knives ).
What are your opinions between these two rods?

Advice needed on ceramic sharpening rods
Re: Advice needed on ceramic sharpening rods
I’m a big fan of the Idahone ceramic rods, I use one all the time on customer knives that I sharpen through 1200 grit on my edge pro. I also use one on my own kitchen knives where the edge needs to be realigned. I have no expietence with the CKTG rod though.
Re: Advice needed on ceramic sharpening rods
The Idahone is as good as any other rod I have used. It was in my first CKTG order and is the only thing from it I have kept in my bag to this day. Steve found the CKTG rod a bit too aggressive for his tastes, so I have not and don't intend to try it.

I like them both, black rod seems to be more aggressive to me, works faster and leaves more bite. Idahone feels a little more silky smooth. I like both but for German knives I might go with the black rod.
