Sourdough

Post by Bensbites »

I know this doesn’t take knife skills, but these loaves have taken six years of self taught work where I messed up every step and learned along the way.

Bread, for me, is very hard to make correctly. So if you have found your way then I can say without a doubt that you have done well! My wife makes some good crusty bread, me, not so much. I am the cook and she the baker. Baking is science and I suck at that.

Nice looking loaf. It also took me about 2 years of experimenting until I could make a consistent loaf. I wound up choosing a Batard shape instead of a Boule. The big challenge for me was to get some whole-grain flour into the mix and still get a good crumb. With the weather cooling here in LA it's time to start making bread again. Thanks for the inspiring post.

This has been my dream for a couple of years. I would give an organ to be able to make bread well. Great looking loaf.
