Cooking up a strom!

Post by b11lf »

Hey guys,

Just came back to update on my "first real knife" purchase about 2 years ago... my journey about sharpening myself... etc. Since I've gotten my Ittu-Ryu Gyuto and another Santoku as a gift - I've been cooking a TON.

Link to update thread (please excuse the rude thread title, having that updated) : https://www.chefknivestogoforums.com/vi ... php?t=4344 )

Here are some pictures:

Pizza has been one of my favorites:

There wasn't really a knife involed in this one, but steak remains one of my favorites to cook! Cast iron pan with a thick crust FTW!!! Cooked the bread in the steak-fat while the steak was resting and the eggs were cooking. Perfect 10AM football game meal :)

If you insist!

hot off the press,
it 'twas the time of year again for my day after Christmas Chili

tried tossing in brisket this year - was going to let it go for 5 to 6 hours, but ended up letting it simmer for 9+ hours

added a habanero this year, as well as these red peppers (what are they called? they were really hottt) - also added a few good squirts of that habanero sauce later during the testing / spices phase

not too sure when this was taken, but I think it was pretty early on, probably right after I added the beans and corn, which I do after an hour or two

always put buttered pasta shells on the bottom of the bowl (about 1/3 pasta, then fill with chili, then top with a solid layer of sharp cheddar cheese, oyster crackers partially crushed, sour cream, and green onion --- no fresh chives available this year).

result - not very picture worthy in terms of 0 visibility of the actual chili - was drooling over this and didn't snap a pic with a proper spoonful. whoops

Oh man! What a wonderful thread!

There were two things about it I really enjoyed;
a) the photography is lively and sharp! Nicely done
b) your food is so different than my food - I feel like I've been on a little tour abroad ^_^

Thanks for posting

I don't know if you should be a chef or a professional photographer
